System in 4 steps
The procedure for VCA company certification is similar to that for other forms of certification, such as quality management and environment care systems. With VCAdirect you follow the four steps that lead to certification of your company:
Step 1: Risk inventory
As a first step you are required to possess an up-to-date risk inventory. This has, in fact, already been mandatory for a number of years according to the "Arbo" legislation. You can have your "arbodienst" (working conditions service) carry this out. If you wish we can also do it for you.
The inventory can be used to determine which specific "Arbo" aspects are applicable. Based on this, and other information, the elements of the VCA system are put into writing.
Step 2: Setting up a safety administration system
We set up the elements of a safety administration system for you (web-based is a possibility here). In this, everything is aimed at minimizing disturbance to the daily routines. To achieve this, the employees are consulted to determine the most practical arrangements.
Elements that, amongst others, receive attention are:
- Taking on new people (instructions, issuing PPE);
- Necessary (safety) training;
- Start-up instructions for projects;
- Guidance during projects via workplace inspections and toolbox meetings;
- Incident handling and calamities;
- Material maintenance and approval.
Step 3: Introducing the safety administration system
We don't stop at setting up the procedures on paper. Together, we ensure that the procedures are implemented and that the people are familiar with them. We also show the people the advantages of the agreed procedures thereby increasing the level of acceptance.
Step 4: Certification
When the safety system has been set up and has been operational for a few months, it can be audited by the certifying organisation. If you pass this audit, you receive the VCA certificate, and the certifying organisation makes yearly visits to check that you still conform to the requirements. If you wish we can provide guidance during these audits.
